Title:
Color slides and transparencies
Description:
The Color slides and transparencies series consists of 35mm color slides, 2¼-inch transparencies, and 4 x 5-inch transparencies that document the activities of the Texas Tourist Development Agency and its work to increase the state's share of the national tourist market. This series illustrates the process the agency used to create print and other advertising campaigns. The materials date 1965-1997 and undated.
Description:
Slides and transparencies include images of tourist attractions and accommodations; outdoor scenes and recreational activities; cities, towns, and historic buildings; and festivals and cultural events. Subjects include the Texas State Arts and Crafts Fair, sponsored by the TTDA; musician and writer Kinky Friedman; and a visit by Governor Ann Richards to Corpus Christi in 1993. These items reveal how the agency wanted to visually portray Texas in print advertising. The series also contains images of print advertisements and slides that appear to be from slide presentations, documenting the agency's advertising research, strategies, and campaigns. Titles for the 35mm slides in this series were taken verbatim from the slides.
