Scope and Content
The Budget, Planning and Policy Office advises the governor regarding state policy and fiscal matters in support of his statutory role as Texas’ chief budget officer. The legislative files are composed of four groups: riders to the Texas 79th legislative session, files related to disaster recovery, legislative appropriations requests and proposed legislation. Records are dated 2003-2015. Ambulatory service centers, the establishment of a health professions commission, skilled workforce initiative, hurricane disaster recovery efforts and measures to prevent voter fraud are prominent record topics. There are several internal memoranda (in paper and electronic form) discussing these and related topics. Legislative riders to 79th legislative session and proposed legislation files are both maintained in spreadsheet form. Most of the disaster recovery composed of digital images of hurricane recovery efforts and reports on the disaster fund introduced in the the Texas 80th legislative regular session. This series also contains pension reports, Texas Office of Public Utility Counsel consolidation reports, charts of funding requests from state agencies, correspondence pertaining to legislative appropriations requests and correspondence and briefing material on proposed legislation.
Formats of the original electronic files include word processing files (.doc), spreadsheets (.xls), digital images (.jpg), emails and slide presentations (.ppt and .pptx). Digital files presented for public use will generally be PDF for text documents and .jpeg for images or spreadsheets. Files in their original format are available on request; restrictions may apply.
