Scope and Content
The Budget, Planning and Policy Office advises the governor regarding state policy and fiscal matters in support of his statutory role as Texas’ chief budget officer. Records are litigation files, dated 2006-2014. Most of the records in this series are communication with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, especially briefing materials and reports, media updates and proposed changes to the implementation of various programs. There is also a draft briefing intended for the Governor’s Office staff on the U.S. Department of Justice investigation of the Lubbock state school. This series also contains correspondence, files, reports and related records pertaining to other Department of Justice investigations into areas such as state foster care and state-supported living facilities. To this end, correspondence and reports of expenditures of the Texas Department of Aging in regards to state-supported living facilities are also present.

Formats of the original electronic files include word processing files (.doc), emails and PDFs. Digital files presented for public use will generally be PDF for text documents. Files in their original format are available on request; restrictions may apply.
