Scope and Content
The Texas Office of the First Lady encompasses the official governmental activities of the spouse of the governor and functions as a subdivision of the Office of the Governor in practice. These files include digital images of Governor and Mrs. Perry at various events and official trips, dated 2008-2013. Also included are images approved for media purposes.

Events reflected in these records include official visits to the Netherlands, Del Rio, Brazil, Argentina, Slovakia, England and Spain; the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, Lion’s Club, Travel Rally Day, and Main Street events at various towns. A small number of the files also include pictures of Mrs. Perry with former Texas governor Dolph Briscoe.

Electronic records described in the finding aid that are part of the Texas Digital Archive are indicated as such in the inventory. Restrictions on access to the content of records are applicable to physical and electronic records.

Formats of the original electronic files include word processing or plain text files (.doc, .docx, .txt), audio files (.mp3), photographs and graphic images (.jpg, .tif, .gif), databases (.mdb), PDFs, PowerPoint, and web-ready images (.htm). Digital files presented for public use will generally be PDF for text documents or spreadsheets, .jpg for photographic or graphic images, and .mp3 for audio files. Files in their original format are available on request; restrictions may apply

[Files consist primarily of headshots of Mrs. Perry, some solo and some with Governor Perry. Some file names include descriptive information about the outfit worn by Mrs. Perry or the general location, such as in front of a flag or at the back door. A couple of images are action shots of Mrs. Perry during the Travis County delegation tour on February 18, 2009.]

[Files consist of headshots of Mrs. Perry, some solo and some with Governor Perry. There are a few duplicates from other folders. File names include clues to the event or date the photograph was taken. Events include the staff reception for the Office of the Governor, Texas Hall of Fame, Texas Women in Business, and Main Street. Files also include images of the interiors of the Neill-Cochran House Museum and two historical images, including one of a vest that belonged to Sam Houston and one of a barbeque held on the grounds of the governor’s mansion in 1976.]

Events include group receptions and official visits to the Netherlands, Brazil, Argentina, Slovakia, London, Spain, the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, Lion’s Club, Travel Rally Day, and Main Street events at various towns etc.. Also included are three brief video clips. A substantial portion of the files do not have descriptive names.]
