Scope and Content
The Texas Office of the First Lady encompasses the official governmental activities of the spouse of the governor and functions as a subdivision of the Office of the Governor in practice. These records consist of media articles on or written by Mrs. Perry and interviews, research material on official events, media advisories, copies of messages on social media (Twitter) from Mrs. Perry’s official account, photographs, and press releases, dated 2008-2013.

Events and causes profiled in these records include National Stalking Awareness Month, Main Street, Texas travel and tourism, breast cancer awareness, the Texas Apartment Association, and the Governor’s mansion, etc.. Subjects include military families, Governor Perry, Governor Dolph Briscoe, and the governor’s mansion exhibit at the Bob Bullock State History Museum.

Electronic records described in the finding aid that are part of the Texas Digital Archive are indicated as such in the inventory. Restrictions on access to the content of records are applicable to physical and electronic records.

Formats of the original electronic files include word processing or plain text files (.doc, .docx, .txt), spreadsheets (.xls., xlsx), audio files (.mp3), photographs and graphic images (.jpg, .tif, .gif), databases (.mdb), PDFs, PowerPoint, .zip files and .shs files. Digital files presented for public use will generally be PDF for text documents or spreadsheets, .jpg for photographic or graphic images, and .mp3 for audio files. Files in their original format are available on request; restrictions may apply


Arrangement
Records are arranged chronologically as received from the agency. Some folder titles have been renamed and abbreviations have been spelled out in order to offer clarity about the contents. In some instances where multiple folders had associated content, folders were merged.

[Files consist of JPEG digital images and primarily Mrs. Perry at official events along with other attendees. A substantial portion of the images are from a Texas vineyard. In addition, pictures include Mrs. Perry with groups of school children, and at official receptions and events. A few pictures are from the Texas Conference for Women, and an official press conference at and media tour of the Governor’s mansion. A small portion of the images include Governor Perry and Governor Dolph Briscoe. For the most part, file names do not reflect the names of events or the individuals present in the pictures.]
