Scope and Content
The Texas Governor’s Mansion served as the official residence of Texas Governor Rick Perry and his family during Perry’s term of office. This series is composed of records regarding public relations, dated 1949, 1973-1989, 2003-2013, bulk 2008-2014, and includes promotional materials, correspondence, speeches, memoranda, photographs, CD-ROMs, a 3.5-inch floppy disk, notes, reports, financial records, audio and video files of public service announcements (PSAs) created to raise money for the restoration of the Governor’s Mansion, photo requests, articles, publications, and related records. Much of the correspondence consists of requests to potential donors to contribute money to the Governor’s Mansion Restoration Fund and thank you letters to donors who have already contributed. Prominent Texans featured in the PSAs include Clay Walker, LeAnn Rimes, Dean Cain, and George Strait.
Formats of the original electronic files include word processing files (.doc and .pdf), spreadsheets (.xls), images (.jpg and .psd), emails, video files (.wmv), and audio files (.mp3). Digital files presented for public use will generally be PDF for text documents or spreadsheets, .mp3 for audio files, .mov for video files, and .jpg for images. Files in their original format are available on request; restrictions may apply.
