Scope and Content
Major responsibilities of the Press Office under Governor Rick Perry included issuing press releases and media advisories on the activities and actions of the governor, as well as the first lady; writing speeches and public service annoucements for the governor and the first lady; and creating visual and audio documentation of the governor’s and the first lady’s public events. Records of this office comprise electronic records including briefs, public event schedules and media advisories for Anita Perry during her time as first lady, 2002-2010, maintained by the Governor’s Press Office. Briefs and event forms often supply the following information: event title, date, time, location, purpose, schedule, participants, background information, attire, audience (size, description, elected officials and VIPs), press attendance, whether remarks will be made and for how long, Press Office staff attending, contact information for event coordinator and the name of the Press Office staff who prepared the form. Media advisories detail specifics of upcoming public appearances for the first lady. These items were sent to the press but were not for publication. Along with a description of the event, information included the date of the event, time, location, purpose of the event and any media restrictions. Often included with these materials are interview details, question and answer materials and talking points for a particular event. Records are from Press Office staff to the Office of the First Lady and Governor Rick Perry. All records are in electronic format.

Formats of the original electronic files include word processing or plain text files (.doc, .docx, .txt), spreadsheets (.xls., xlsx), and PDFs. Digital files presented for public use will generally be PDF for text documents or spreadsheets. Files in their original format are available on request; restrictions may apply.

Arrangement
These records are arranged in alphabetical order based on subject, as organized by the originating agency. Within each folder, records are arranged chronologically.
