Scope and Content
Major responsibilities of the Press Office under Governor Rick Perry included issuing press releases and media advisories on the activities and actions of the governor, as well as the first lady; writing speeches and public service annoucements for the governor and the first lady; and creating visual and audio documentation of the governor’s and the first lady’s public events. These records are digital photographs of Anita Perry during her time as first lady, 2002-2008, maintained by the Governor’s Press Office. These images include general subject images of First Lady Anita Perry including headshots, official portraits and official group portraits with Governor Rick Perry. Images also document public events that Anita Perry participated in during her time as First Lady. Events include elementary school visits; a UT Nursing School visit; the Governor’s Commission for Women; public speaking events related to domestic violence, sexual abuse and breast cancer awareness; award ceremonies; a commencement address; and group portraits with Boy Scouts, young cancer patients, and nursing professionals. There are also a small amount of family photographs.
Formats of the original electronic files include photographs and graphic images (.jpg, .tif, .gif). Digital files presented for public use will generally be .jpg for photographic or graphic images. Files in their original format are available on request; restrictions may apply.
These records include only a select amount of images of First Lady Anita Perry. Additional media files from her public appearances are located in the separate finding aid Governor Rick Perry Press Office media files, 1972, 1998-2015, undated, bulk 2008-2012.
