Scope and Content
Under Texas Governor Rick Perry, the Texas Film Commission (TFC) served the film, television, commercial, animation, visual effects, and video games industries in the state, offering an array of resources and incentives. The TFC’s main functions included administering the Texas Moving Image Industry Incentive Program and the Film Friendly Texas program; publishing the annual Texas Production Directory/Manual; maintaining a job hotline for cast, crew, and video game/animation positions; and providing resources and information to facilitate media production in the state. Outside publications include articles, drafts, images, email exchanges, and editorial guidelines from publishers related the appearance of the TFC in various publications. Records cover articles advertising TFC programs and services, articles authored by TFC directors but not directly related to the functions of the TFC, and general interest articles related to media production in Texas. Dates range from 2000 to 2013. The Advertising folder relates to TFC appearances in print publications advertising its functions and services, including articles on the Texas Moving Image Industry Incentive Program in the magazines P3 Update and ShootOnline, general agency information in the London-based locations directory The Location Guide, and an article spotlighting the office in Markee 2.0 magazine. The Media folder includes Screen magazine articles and possibly other magazine articles written by Director Bob Hudgins, select email correspondence regarding media coverage of the agency, and location images. The Publications (Outside) folder contains an article by Director Tom Copeland for POV magazine regarding media production in Austin, Texas; a series of articles for the Rio Grande Valley newspaper the Valley Morning Star regarding film production in the area; and articles or drafts of articles on the functions of the agency, location services, the Texas Moving Image Industry Incentive program and media production for various other publications.

Formats of the original electronic files include word processing or plain text files, photographs and graphic images, email messages, and web pages. Digital files presented for public use will generally be .pdf for text documents, .jpg for photographic or graphic images, .eml for email messages, and .html for web pages. Files in their original format are available on request; restrictions may apply.
