Scope and Content
The Texas Music Office (TMO) of the Texas Governor’s Office is a state-funded business promotion office and information clearinghouse for the Texas music industry. The records consist of materials generated during meetings attended by staff of the TMO or its predecessor, the Texas Music Commission. Types of records include agendas, minutes, notes, address lists, memoranda, and audiocassettes, dated 1986-2002. The paper records are materials from inter-agency organization meetings attended by TMO staff, dated 1986-2002. The groups involved are the Coalition of Texas Music Museums, the Austin Community College Commercial Music Management Advisory Committee, and the Business Development division of the Texas Governor’s Office. When known, the TMO staff member in attendance was director Casey Monahan, though in many cases attendance was not recorded. The series also contains 25 audiocassette recordings of 10 meetings of the TMO’s predecessor agency, the Texas Music Commission, dating 1986 to 1987.
