Scope and Content
The Texas Music Office (TMO) of the Texas Governor’s Office is a state-funded business promotion office and information clearinghouse for the Texas music industry. Records consist of materials generated during the development of informational resources published by the TMO: the Handbook of Texas Music, the Texas Recording Digest, the Texas Music Business and Legal Primer, the Texas Music Education Primer, the Texas Music Industry Directory, the Texas Recording and Production Guide, and The Musicians and Retailers Guide to the Internet. Most of the electronic files attributable to the publications can be found in named folders, but some are also located in the broader folder Publication development files. Types of records consist of both paper and electronic record types including incoming and outgoing correspondence, draft pages, memoranda, reports, presentations, forms, spreadsheets, speeches, invitations, meeting minutes, floppy discs and digital images, dated 1993-2007. See the series State publications for published copies of many of these projects.

Formats of the original electronic files include word processing or plain text files (.doc, .docx, .wpd, .txt, .rtf), spreadsheets (.xls., xlsx), photographs and graphic images (.jpg, .tif), databases (.mdb), emails, PDFs, and slide presentations (.ppt). Digital files presented for public use will generally be PDF for text documents or spreadsheets and .jpg for photographic or graphic images.
