Title: Governor's daily schedules
Description: These are the daily schedules of Governor Rick Perry, dating 2001-2015. Information included on each daily sheet (if there was a scheduled state event) includes the following: time of event, name of event, location, room; contact and/or advance persons' names and telephone numbers; staff present (usually called "manifest" if in transit); press (e.g., open); attendees (including total number if appropriate); agenda (usually in some detail); remarks (e.g., informal, formal); drive time/flight time; and additional notes. Examples of event names include: Phone Call: Congresswoman Kay Granger; Meeting: Palau; Unclassified Border Briefing; Boat Patrol of Rio Grande River; LIVE Interview: Sean Hannity Radio Show; Taped Radio Interview: Simon Conway, News Radio 1040 WHO; Mid-Winter Convention: Department of Texas, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Details (increasingly specific over the 15 years) include such things as the following examples: proceeds to boats for load up and life vests/security instruction. Note: Helicopter 1: GRP, Sean Hannity, camera man. Helicopter 2: [names redacted], DPS. Agenda: 6:05PM – GRP arrives; proceeds to makeup--6:20PM – Interview begins--6:30PM – Interview concludes; makeup removed. Arrive at Governor's Mansion. Governor's daily schedules dating 2001-2007 are edited schedules (in PDF format), where information concerning times of departure and airplane registration numbers was redacted by the Governor's Office for security purposes; also redacted by the Governor's Office to comply with the Public Information Act are home telephone numbers, personal cellular telephone numbers, and personal pager numbers of government employees or officials (drivers, pilots, and DPS personnel; also contact and advance personnel). Governor's daily schedules dating 2008-2015 are in Microsoft Word documents (also electronic), and must also be reviewed by archival staff and redacted (with the permission of the researcher; see Restrictions on Access).
Citation information: (Identify the item), Governor's daily schedules, Texas Governor Rick Perry Scheduling and Advance Office records. Archives and Information Services Division, Texas State Library and Archives Commission.
Arrangement: These records are arranged chronologically, as received from Governor Perry's office. The scanned and electronic governor's daily schedules are arranged in the "State Schedule" directory chronologically by year or group of years. The folder named Responsive schedules, 2001-2007 has PDF scans of schedules arranged chronologically. The rest of the folders, containing MS Word files, are arranged by year, with individual documents labeled srpMMDDYY.doc (or .docx); 2012-2015 are in four folders (one per year), but 2008-2011 are in one folder, so sorting by label will give 010108, 010109, 010110, etc., making finding the schedule for one day a bit tricky. (We recommend using the search bar, starting each search with srp (e.g., srp031210 for schedule Rick Perry, March 12, 2010). About 115 schedules begin with rp rather than srp.)
Access restrictions: Because of the possibility that portions of these records fall under Public Information Act exceptions including, but not limited to, government employees or officials' home telephone numbers, personal cellular telephone numbers, and personal pager numbers (Texas Government Code, Section 552.117), an archivist must review these records before they can be accessed for research. The records may be requested for research under the provisions of the Public Information Act (Texas Government Code, Chapter 552). Refer to the overall restriction statement for instructions on requesting access through the Texas Attorney General.
Access restrictions: "Note: Governor's daily schedules dating 2001-2007 (those labeled Responsive Schedules in the inventory) were transferred to the Texas State Archives in PDF format, already redacted by Governor Perry's Office. Unredacted originals were not transferred for those years. All those labeled simply Schedules in the inventory must be reviewed and redacted by archives staff."
