Historical Note: This walking stick was cut from a tree that grew in the yard of David Crockett, in Gibson County, Tennessee. David (Davy) Crockett, frontiersman, congressman, and defender of the Alamo, son of John and Rebecca Crockett, was born in Greene County, East Tennessee, on August 17, 1786. In the 1820s, he entered Tennessee politics and eventually served two terms in Congress. By 1835, Crockett had become disillusioned with politics and set off to explore Texas.
