Title:
Graham (R. Niles) collection
Description:
This series of photographs documents the family, social, and business life of R. Niles Graham and his family, both at home in Austin and in travels domestically and abroad, dating from 1893 to 1937 and undated. This series consists of 855 photographs, 507 postcards, 17 photoengravings, 3 tintypes, 10 copy photographs, 21 steel engravings, and 22 engravings. In addition, the collection originally included several batches of snapshot film negatives for which there were no corresponding prints. In about 1978, 8×10 modern prints were made from these negatives by the State Archives’ contract photographer, Bill Malone. Once printed these cellulose nitrate negatives were deaccessioned and destroyed because they were thought to be a safety hazard.
