The Budget, Planning and Policy Office advises the governor regarding state policy and fiscal matters in support of his statutory role as Texas' chief budget officer. The Texas Health Care Policy Council was created by House Bill 916, 79th Regular Legislative Session to research, analyze and provide recommendations on ways to improve the quality, safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of the Texas health care system. Records are the files of the Texas Health Care Policy Council, 2004-2011. The majority of the records pertain to the group's meetings, containing meeting recordings, transcripts, supporting documentation and briefing materials. Also present are plans regarding the scope and impact of proposed projects, reports on topics such as stakeholder partnership opportunities and consumer impact, publications on health information technology and briefing documents on various aspects of healthcare, such as Medicaid and prescription drug policy. A small amount of health-related correspondence, both administrative and from the general public, is also included.
