Description:
Historical Note: This parasol belonged to Lucadia Pease. She carried it when she married Elisha Marshall Pease in Poquonock, Connecticut, in 1850. Lucadia Christiana Niles was born in Connecticut in 1813. She married Elisha M. Pease in 1850 and accompanied him to Brazoria, Texas. When Elisha Pease was elected governor of Texas, the family moved to Austin. Governor Pease served two terms as governor and subsequently a third term after a period of 10 years.
