Description:
Historical Note: The Texas Sesquicentennial commemorative Winchester 94 rifle was manufactured on the occasion of the 150th Anniversary of Texas. This rifle has an engraved matte gold plated receiver, lever, barrel bands, medallion in stock, and an 18.5 inches round barrel. Its value was set at $850. In 1862, Oliver Fisher Winchester started the Winchester Repeating Arms Company and produced a series of rifles such as the 1866, 1873 and 1876. John M. Browning contributed to the designs and in 1893, he presented a model for the new 30-30 smokeless cartridge. This model was the Model 94 Winchester. The Winchester Repeating Arms Company (now the United States Repeating Arms Company) has produced special, limited edition Model 94 rifles and carbines to commemorate significant events, people, places or periods in United States or Canadian history. These were manufactured for one year and produced in limited quantities and have special serial numbers not in the regular production range. All have various levels of embellishment which highlight the event or person being honored including engraving, silver, gold or pewter plating of the receiver and other parts of the gun, as well as higher grades and figure of wood in the stocks and forends.
