Scope and Content
Records consist of the personal electronic files maintained by two key members of TMO staff: director Casey Monahan and publications coordinator Marc Fort, dating 1998-2012. Types of records include reports, presentations, press releases, notes, and digital images. Topics include strategic planning, Texas music museums, and development of the 2009 Texas Music Industry Survey.

Casey Monahan was a music writer and research analyst for the Austin American-Statesman when he was hired to be the inaugural director of the TMO in January 1990, a position he held until 2015. In this capacity, Monahan was a key figure in TMO operations, including publication development, liaison with the music industry, and maintenance of the office’s online talent directory.

Marc Fort served as the publications coordinator, webmaster and social media strategist of the Texas Music Office. He is the co-editor of the annual publications Texas Music Events Calendar, the Texas Music Education Primer, the Getting Started in the Music Business reference guide , and the Texas Talent Register. Fort is also responsible for the maintenance and update of the TMO website.

Formats of the original electronic files include word processing or plain text files (.doc, .docx), photographs and graphic images (.jpg), PDFs, and PowerPoint files. Digital files presented for public use will generally be PDF for text documents or spreadsheets and .jpg for photographic or graphic images. Files in their original format are available on request, restrictions may apply.
