A joint resolution passed by the Congress of the United States for the Annexation by Treaty of the Republic of Texas to the Union was approved by the Citizens of Texas On February 19, 1846. President Anson Jones lowered the flag of the Republic of Texas as the Stars and Stripes were unfurled over the Capitol in Austin. Old English Staffordshire ware.
