Mariana Thompson Folsom participated in the women's suffrage and temperance movements, as did her daughter Erminia Thompson Folsom, who was also active in prison reform. This group consists of correspondence, speeches or lectures, clippings, broadsides, membership cards for suffrage organizations, and an address book belonging to Reverend Mary C. Billings. Materials are dated 1869 to 1908. Most of the letters concern women's suffrage. The broadsides and speeches concern lectures on suffrage. Mariana Folsom was also active in the Universalist church. In the 1890s she was part of a network of women Universalist ministers organized by Reverend Billings, an ordained Universalist minister. Materials related to Reverend Billings include an address book and obituaries.
